The original Persian text was edited and published by his son and another person in Calcutta in 1812. An Urdu version appeared in Muradabad in India in 1904. A scholarly edition of the text — the first in Iran — was published in Tehran a few years ago. In contrast, an English version published in London in 1810 enjoyed considerable success. It was republished in a second edition, with some additional matter, in 1812. A French translation from the English appeared in Paris in 1811 and another in 1819. A German translation from the French was published in Vienna in 1813. The English version is, to put it charitably, remarkably free and is probably the result of some form of oral translation through an intermediary.
